Midtown Park Apartments is a long-standing low and moderate-income Black community that was built following vast demolition in the Western Addition/Fillmore community in San Francisco. Although City officials promised the community would become a coop, in recent years residents fought rent hikes from the City and developer attempts to demolish the community. The 40 Acres CLT aims to fulfill the City's promise of resident cooperative ownership at Midtown.
